Terrazzo
–
Terrazzo is here to stay! Terrazzo these days is actually made with marble chips, quartz, granite, or even glass set into a matrix of concrete or epoxy resin. This wide range of material makes it possible for terrazzo to be added to tiles, furniture, while also being the inspiration behind many patterns seen in home accessories such as planters or rugs. And today, Best Design Books is going to show you how you can introduce this design trend into your home decor.
Originating in Italy over 500 years ago, the composite material of marble chippings set into cement was created as a way to reuse the scrapped rock. Once the fragments are set, the surface is then polished to create a super-smooth finish. Traditionally sold as flooring, the material was popular in the 1970s and is back for 2019, replacing the marble trend of the last couple of years.
Terrazzo is a lot more than just a flooring material. It’s a design aesthetic that goes back thousands of years, while still retaining its unique influence today in the 21st century.
To help you bring the trend into your home, Best Design Books selected 3 terrazzo products that will add the unique touch you are looking for:
